I know there are a lot of people right now who feel like the world (especially America) is going backwards and sliding into darkness. They’re basically right. The United States in particular is seriously regressing.
Remember, this is not an accident. Many people have chosen this.
This phase of regression is spiritually purposeful and meaningful, like a great cleansing taking place. I am not referring to the purification of people, but the purification of thoughts. Old follies are being surfaced and dealt with.
We will be in this phase for a while. Can you accept it? Can you give in to it? Or would you rather pretend it didn’t happen or wish it away?
You may realize that some of these silliness is very old indeed. You might even think that humans must have stopped doing such stupid things by now. No, if you think we’re done, you’re making a mistake. Humanity is clearly not done with what it is currently dealing with. There is still a long way to go. A lot of people need to go through what’s going on right now—perhaps a lot more people than you think.
It’s important to let this play out. You don’t need to actively participate in it unless you feel yourself surrounded by its karma. If you do feel karma is involved, allow yourself to be involved. See what happens to you during these times. Give any surface your own treatment. Were you surprised at how well you performed when you were squeezed? Delighted? Disappointed?
It’s good to let people discover for themselves where this is all going, as many people clearly want and need to experience it for themselves. They won’t heed or understand the warnings about it. They learn more by diving deeper into the darkness and soaking in it longer. They come out when they’re ready, not earlier. If you don’t want to join them, just leave the light on for them.
This period is also a powerful invitation for conscious, growth-oriented people to test their mettle. As Bruce Lee said, “It is not enough to know, we must apply. It is not enough to be willing, we must do.” Let’s see how good you are at maintaining your own state of light when so many others are diving in the dark. You don’t have to join them.
From a certain perspective, this is indeed a test. Are you willing to let it drag you down? How strong and resilient are you? Will you give in to fear, hatred, revenge, anxiety, hopelessness, helplessness, or hopelessness? Are you really going to be knocked down by all this energy surrounding you?
How much compassion and patience do you have? Now is a good time to find out. When someone else’s behavior affects you personally, can you still give them space to explore and process what they need to go through? You can experience the ripples their actions create within you. See how you can quickly and easily regain your composure.
May these moments show you who you are, and if you don’t like what you see about yourself, then you’ll take extra steps on your path to growth. Do you want to be repeatedly stimulated into response mode? Or can you stay focused and consciously choose your response to events?
This dark beast is constantly taunting you, trying to trick you into reacting to it, isn’t it? It wants you to engage from your weak point, so it can suck you into a range where it appears strong while you may be weak. How many times will you fall for this trick before you accept what the beast is trying to teach you?
As strange as it sounds, the beast is actually all around you. It’s here to help you grow. It’s not actually here to defeat you. It invites you to choose a strong and honest response, and then see if your choice is really right for you.
Even if the beast continues to jump, snort, and throw tantrums every day, you don’t have to play its silly games at that level.
Stop and look at how stupid, silly and ridiculous it really is. It’s not rational, it’s not thoughtful, it’s not smart. It is emotional, reactive, needy, self-destructive. It tries to make you believe it’s powerful, but it’s not. Its game is to see if it can trick you into giving it your power by inducing you to fear it. It will keep offering to play the game with you until you find your way.
See if you can get to the point where you can laugh at the beast. And laugh off my remaining fears and anxieties. Stand on the strength of your spiritual plane and laugh at your foolish human weaknesses – which is exactly what this beast embodies.
The beast is asking you if these weaknesses are really you and if you will continue to embody them. Or are you really ready to let go of these weaknesses and move on?
You may even find that many other people seem to embody these weaknesses. Will you be involved? This is the trick of the beast again. It’s checking to see if you’re also a stickler. If following the herd mentality is still important to you, then you are not ready to embody the complete freedom of a conscious being.
Remember: You get to choose the energy you want to embody. If not fear, worry, anxiety, etc., what would you choose? When you realize that it is, it is indeed a choice.
If you don’t want to repeatedly fall into the hallucinations of disconnection, your invitation is to reconnect. If you were not sucked into the energy of fear, where would you stand?
You need to find your own answers. If you are not fear energy, what are you? Where do you stand when you are most connected? Where is your base camp? What energies are truly you?
My own answer is to stand in the stable energy field that is most consistent with my true self. These include curiosity, exploration, enthusiasm, intimacy, sharing, kindness, fun, trust, courage, wisdom, simplicity, harmony and inspiration.
If I were to condense my list right now into my two favorite energies, I would choose Want to know (for the active yang side) and happiness (for the receptive side). I like to explore what’s real about me Want to know about, and me happiness In the ongoing process of exploration and discovery.
I particularly enjoy exploring with people who value Want to know and happinessespecially this year, my life seems to be richer among these Vegas locals. I’m always trying to do more social exploration and experience more moments of shared joy. For example, last Saturday I participated in a Holotropic Breathing Ceremony and had a beautiful and peaceful inner journey. The more raging the beast outside is, the more I see its various tantrums as invitations to dive deeper into the energies I love most.
I choose to let the beast take its course. Something inside me tells me that it is collectively called to achieve a worthy goal, so deep down I feel supportive of it. It’s doing what it needs to do.
I won’t ignore the beast. I watch it carefully because it’s obviously very much alive in my reality and I want to make sure I accept and integrate its lessons. I see its existence as an invitation to do more growth work in some directions. Energetically, it’s like learning to be in the center of a storm.
As the year progresses, I feel more centered, grounded, stable, and more joyful about life. Even knowing that this beast could destroy many aspects of my life and career if it really wanted to. Yet it doesn’t threaten the things I care about most, like wonder and joy, so deep down I don’t find it particularly threatening. This beast reminds me of what I cherish most. It reminds me of who I am at my core.
And beast, I’m still laughing at you. You are so ridiculous. Thank you for what you do here. I know you are needed and I appreciate what you do. Come…have a Scooby-Doo snack.
