My 10-year plan for CGC – Steve Pavlina

Earlier today we welcomed our first new synchronous call Conscious Growth Club 10 Years.

Sync is our monthly orientation call where we get the current pulse of the team. What are people going through? What kind of support would be helpful this month?

Today’s conference call also gave me a clearer understanding of what CGC wants to happen this year – not a rigid plan, but an evolving direction.

Some of the words and themes that emerged were:

connect
sense of belonging
intimacy
action
momentum
relation
Comfortable
rest
Integration
calm
openness
experiment
Want to know
surprise
courage
believe
dedication
creative streaming
Share half-baked stuff
Share more of our true journey

This gives us a clear idea of how the energy of CGC Year 10 is opening up to us.

It also helps clarify the type of people we want to invite to the CGC this year.

Not everyone. CGC is never for everyone.

But if a space like this can truly support you, I hope you can see yourself more clearly in the invitation.

A year of connection and belonging

One of the strongest intentions of CGC Year 10 is to help the group become a stronger space of genuine connection and belonging.

A lot of people are doing a lot of inner work these days.

They are reading. Keep a journal. Watch videos. Listen to podcasts. Think about their patterns. Work to improve their habits. Try to understand yourself.

This is all useful.

But a specific kind of growth only truly activates when you bring your authentic self into relationships with other self-aware, growth-oriented, action-oriented people.

Not your elegant self.
Not your “here’s my impressive update” self.
Not your “I’ve got it figured out” self.

Your true self – the part that’s still trying.
Still feeling like something needs to change.
Still learning how to trust my own deeper signals.

This is one of the things we hope CGC will support more strongly this year: people being able to show up at events in an authentic way.

You don’t have to be fully formed – in fact it’s better if not.

Fully formed people are usually either already grown or already pretending.

More action, less circling alone

Another important theme on today’s Synchronize call is action.

Not crazy action.
Not grinding.
Don’t chase.
Don’t try harder until your heart feels trapped in a cage.

More like: let’s stop being alone around the same things.

Let’s bring the card points into the room.

The decision you keep putting off.
Relationship patterns to pay attention to.
This creative project is almost becoming a reality.
Parts of life that feel confusing, heavy, vague, or unfinished.
The invitation you never sent.
The body signals you’ve been ignoring.
You keep nibbling away at the truth instead of claiming it.

CGC works best when people bring what is actually happening.

A decision.
a wish.
A transition.
A stuck place.
A desire.
A premature idea.
Requesting support.

Then we can use it together.

One goal for Year 10 is to help the club become better bridge From Insight to Life Movement.

Not just more self-awareness.

More like:

I had a conversation.
I made the request.
I cleared out the old stuff.
I took a break to replenish my energy.
I reached out my hand.
I started this project.
I no longer pretend that the old roads still fit.
I let myself be seen.
I let life help me more.
I’m done.
I cleared.
I released.

This is the kind of progress I like to see at CGC.

Sometimes it’s big and dramatic. Sometimes simple and beautiful. Both counts.

Creative, open-minded, sociable people

This year we especially welcome more people who are creative, open-minded, social and willing to try life.

By creative I don’t necessarily mean professional artists, although we do have a number of professional artists attend CGC every year.

I’m talking about people who see life as something they are actively shaping.

Writers, artists, entrepreneurs, coaches, brilliant nerds, intuitive explorers, relationship builders, community-minded people, project starters, experience designers, sensitive people with unusual inner lives – yes, please… more of them.

Those who have ideas but haven’t fully implemented them yet.

People want to publish something, build something, host something, heal something, explore something, simplify something, or open a new door in their lives.

People who want to say:

“It’s not done yet, but that’s where I am.”

This kind of honesty is very powerful in our team, and the energy of the team is particularly good at helping these individuals take the next meaningful step.

It also allows other people to be real. One person’s progress often inspires others to take action.

I’d rather be in a room filled with sincere, half-baked energy than one with polished pretense. CGC is a dynamic club where the energy likes to be turned into action rather than just circulated through the space of possibilities. In light of recent news about Spirit Airlines, here’s a timely reminder: Spirit is great, but the quality of the journey is also important — and ultimately, the plane needs to land.

Build healthier relationships with support

Many thoughtful people are terrible at getting support.

They are very good at helping others.
Very good at thinking.
Very good at coping.
Very good at being self-sufficient.

But self-sufficiency can quietly become isolating.

One of my goals for CGC’s 10th year is to normalize more support.

Bring whatever you need help with.

Bring up the unclear parts.

Bring a place where you enjoy perspective, encouragement, mirroring, truth, warmth, or nudges.

This does not mean that we turn CGCs into therapeutic spaces. It’s not like that.

This is a growth club. An active, relational and participatory space. This is a place for adults who are willing to participate with honesty, responsibility, curiosity, and care.

But it does mean you don’t have to keep pretending your life is a solitary engineering project.

Humans need supportive rooms.

Humanity needs an honest mirror.

Humanity needs other people who can say, “Yeah, I get it,” or “Have you considered this?” or “That sounds like the same old story,” or “I think you already know what you want.”

This support can change the direction of an entire month and sometimes a lifetime. When people have a rock-solid base of social support, they tend to become bolder and braver. They take more action. They hesitate less. They believe in themselves more.

Stretch, but don’t tense

Another purpose this year is to keep the CGC flexible but user-friendly.

I want people to grow.
I want people to experiment.
I want people to become braver, warmer, more expressive, more honest, more energetic.

But I don’t want the team arena to feel stressful.

A good space for growth should allow people to breathe.

This year I hope CGC can maintain a healthy range:

Symbolic mandala represents the balanced rhythm of the CGC Grade 10 call format
  • support When life feels like a mess and you don’t want to sort it out alone.
  • flow When your energy is scattered and you want to turn insights into forward momentum.
  • release When something is finished, old, heavy, or ready to leave your life.
  • reflect When you have too much on your mind and your body wants to vote.
  • touch When relationships, friendships, trust or real human interaction need more care.
  • Want to know When the world feels too small and possibilities want to open up again.
  • Play When life gets too serious and happiness needs a place to stay.
  • connect When you want warmth, a sense of belonging, laughter, and deeper connections with your CGC colleagues.
  • synchronous When we want to experience this month together and choose a common direction.

This is the new rhythm for CGC grade 10 students.

This is not a rigorous course. This is a living structure.

We will continue to listen to people’s actual experiences and adapt our processes accordingly.

who might feel at home here

If you want more connection, support, honesty and energy in your life, you may be a good fit for CGC Year 10.

If you’re willing to show up, be on camera, and genuinely participate, you’ll likely feel right at home.

If you like thoughtful people, passionate conversation, personal growth, experimentation, emotional honesty, practical action, curiosity and a bit of wonder, you might be a good fit.

You don’t have to be outgoing.

You don’t have to be completely confident.

You don’t have to organize your life and color code it.

But you do need to be willing to bring your authentic self into the room.

If you primarily want private content in the background, if you like to stay hidden, if you don’t want instant interaction, or if you want a strict step-by-step formula where someone else tells you exactly what to do with your life, then CGC may not be the right fit.

It is also not suitable for cynical, contemptuous, cruel or dehumanizing energies.

Together we create a warm room.

This means that the quality of people matters.

my deeper intentions

My deeper intention for CGC 10 years is simple:

I hope CGC helps people stop growing up alone and start living more fully—in movement, in connection, in real life.

More honest conversations.
More invitations.
More warmth.
More courage.
More down-to-earth action.
More creative experiments.
More relationship energy.
More support is actually appropriate for what people are going through right now.

I want CGC to be a place where people can bring their own lives into the room and feel some change, because they do.

Not every call needs to be profound.

Some calls can be interesting. Some may be practical. Some may be gentle. Some people may be surprised. Someone may provide clarification in a way that may seem trivial at the time, but create powerful ripples.

This is true growth.

It’s not always fireworks. Sometimes, a door finally opens because someone has the courage to touch the handle and think, “What if?”
