If you want to be consistent, one of the biggest mistakes you can make is trying to “trick” your brain.
We’ve all seen this advice:
- “Just do it for two minutes.”
- “Give yourself a reward.”
when i’m stuck Wanted to change my life and I fell in love with it.
I remember watching a video on YouTube about a “proven hack” over a decade ago and trying it.
Well, these techniques worked within a few days.
But then the novelty wears off and I fall back into my old routine.
Skills ≠ lasting change.
What Do Work?
1. Focus on the big picture
Skills focus on howbut discipline requires Why.
If your reason for working is small, your brain can easily talk you out of it.
Most people fail because they don’t actually know what they are striving for; they just follow “shoulds” rather than “musts.”
- action: Place physical reminders of Why That Matters around your house or on your phone’s lock screen.
When you have a visual reminder of your goal, you can stop internal negotiation before it begins.
If this doesn’t work, your Why It’s simply not important enough.
So dig deep and find something that moves you.
2. Slow down your morning routine
If the first thing you do in the morning is check your notifications, you’ve given someone else the keys to your brain.
When your mind starts racing from the moment you wake up, “lazy” thoughts are more likely to take over later in the day.
- action: Spend a morning offline. Read a physical book or journal.
Slowing down is not about “Zen.” It’s about building a buffer.
When you start your day in a calm, focused state, your spirit becomes calmer.
Later, when the work gets tough, you can stay calm rather than react to the first impulse to quit.
3. Adopt a “fuck it” mentality
Most people fail because they take their feelings too seriously.
they think because they Feel Tired, they must yes Tired.
Don’t overanalyze every thought and emotion.
It doesn’t matter. You are human. Your emotions may be all over the place.
If you want to get things done, you have to learn to be a little indifferent to your own thoughts.
- action: Practice separation. When your brain starts complaining, you can say, “Screw it,” and still get the job done.
It’s about breaking the bond between idea and action.
Once you realize that your body can move no matter what your brain is complaining about, you will become consistent.
4. Take your body seriously
Here’s a paradox: You should stay away from the whims of your mind, but also take care of your body’s health.
Many people think they have a “motivation problem” when in fact they have an “energy problem.”
You can’t silence your brain that’s screaming for help from sleep deprivation or spam.
- action: Treat sleep, exercise, and diet as non-negotiables.
Remember, if you don’t sleep, your prefrontal cortex (the part of the brain that handles discipline) actually shuts down.
Fix biological problems and “difficult” things suddenly become easy.
5. Eliminate social media disease
If you’re feeding dopamine all day long, your mind can’t be quiet and focused.
If you can’t stand in line for two minutes without checking your phone, you’ll never be able to sit for two hours and do deep work.
- action: Stop carrying your phone around with you. Keep it in another room while you work.
Every time you scroll, you’re training your brain to expect a reward with zero effort.
you are indeed practise distracted.
- Is this the life you want?
- Always upset?
Of course not. Delete the application. I know, like most of us, you’ve probably done it 50 times.
Just don’t install them again.
Doing difficult things is not difficult
It just requires you to be uncomfortable without running away.
Nothing good in life is free.
You have to work for it.
There are no tips or tricks.
Just action.
let’s go.
