Antonio Conte Cavaliere OMRI is an Italian professional football manager and former player who is currently the head coach of Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur. Conte began his career at local club Lecce and went on to become one of the most decorated and influential players in Juventus history, winning five Serie A titles, a Coppa Italia, a UEFA Champions League and a UEFA Cup, and serving as team captain from 1996 to 2001. As head coach, Conte was known for using a 3-5-2 formation.
After his retirement, Conte served as Siena’s assistant coach alongside Luigi De Canio during the 2005-06 season. In July 2006, he was appointed head coach of Serie B team Arezzo. However, after a series of disappointing results, he was sacked on October 31, 2006. On August 14, 2014, following the resignation of Italian national team coach Cesare Prandelli, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced that it had agreed to sign a two-year contract with Conte as the new national team coach until the 2016 European Cup. He was awarded the Order of the Order of the Italian Republic in 2000.
